Autism Treatment

Still now the cause for autism is unknown and researchers suggests that the autism is a genetic condition and several genes are associated in development of autism causing variety of differentiation in the structure of brain and chemicals in the brain, however there are not having any consisting findings.

In treatment of autism, there are several behavioural and educational programs are designed. These therapies are used to teach social skills, motor skills and cognitive skills, useful in eliminating or reducing maladaptive behaviors. Individual treatment method is important as every autistic children vary greatly in their own behavioural needs.

Special education program is highly structured and mainly focuses on self-care, speech language, developing social skills and job skills. Mental health professionals also help families to identify and participate in treatment based programs as per needs of individual child’s treatment.

Speech Therapy: Speech therapy helps with the issue associated with speech problem

Physical Therapy: Some children having autistic disorder finds difficulty with motor skills and physical movement like walking, running or jumping. Physical therapy helps to improve motor skills and strengthen the muscles

Sensory Training: Children with autism spectrum disorder are often very sensitive to sounds, lights and touch. This sensory training helps people to become more comfortable with sensory inputs
